Vanessa Beecroft: a woman with a vision and her controversial art

This image was taken at the Peggy Guggenheim museum in Venice, Italy, this museum is amazing, it is an absolute destination when you are in Venice. The museum is Peggy’s house that was transformed into a museum with all of her personal art pieces. As many of you know Peggy Guggenheim was a huge patron of the arts and a woman who is said to have many lovers and many pleasures. Her house is stunning and her collection is even more remarkable.

Vanessa Beecroft presented her performance art at this museum. I have been a huge fan of Beecroft’s work, she uses women and places them in the museum in formation, naked with some cloth covering various parts. Her vision is to take the body and evoke emotion from the viewer, it is not the models who feel the emotions but the observer. It is the observer who creates the experience. Beecroft, an Italian artist who is quite young, said that it took her many performances before she could get the models to remove their clothes, but she always had the vision of having the models naked. I find it fascinating, disturbing and so raw that is is absolutely brilliant. Any art that disturbs me is memorable, and when you keep talking about it and sharing your experience that is what makes it good art, you don’t have to “like” it.

Salvador Dali Hallucinogenic Toreador: Art & Inspirations

Salvador Dali has been an inspiration for me throughout all of my art years. I am completely fascinated by the way he layers his paintings so that there are multiple images that appear after viewing for moments. He was so interactive and theatrical. One of my favorite memories was visiting his museum in Figueres, Spain outside of Barcelona where a theater was turned into a museum with many installations featured where you had to view and move with the art. He was not only a surrealist but also participated in dadaism. This painting is so current with the color scheme and the feeling evoked of hope, optimism and making dreams come true.

Beautiful and sexy Marion Cotillard

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

She is beautiful and incredibly stunning. One of my favorite movies is La Vie En Rose, it was so moving. I felt like Edith Piaf was an inspiration in so many ways, even though her life was completely out of control, she still pursued her dream and sang on the street. It was almost like her voice had to be heard there was no way it was going to be trapped in her body. And Marion Cotillard played her character flawlessly, it was such a brilliant movie. The passion from that film and also Marion’s elegant beauty are muse’s to my creations.

Shoulders of the season

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Recently fashion has turned to Art again, designers are turning up the creativity. Everyone is working with their true passion and honest drive to create something unexpected. Dolce & Gabbana definitely have this shoulder silhouette mastered.

Now it is time to create something similar and amazing, with this shoulder as inspiration. I love vintage for the fact that you can purchase a dress or a blouse that is totally unique to you, one owner, one style, but there are times like this when a designer creates an item that turns into a collector piece. This is one of those items that 10 years from now this shoulder silhouette will be fresh again!
