Inspiration: Siesta Key… jewelry that resembles a carefree lifestyle

I had a recent trip to Siesta Key, partly work and partly fun… But seriously, time stood still, I felt like the beach mentality was fully embraced in Florida. I love a slower pace of life where things just flow. This feeling and lifestyle is exactly what is inspiring my collection for Spring 2011. Think Bridget Bardot playing guitar in Buzios Brazil. Envision gray moonstone, more blue/ green chalcedony and violet purple haze opaque chalcedony; I am going through a chalcedony moment so it is my current “LOVE”. Enjoy the lovely photo and stay tuned for more inspiring moments and posts.

Indian beauty, jewelry as an important part of life

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Many of my stones are from India. The cutting mechanisms in Jaipur and other Indian states are impeccable, the best in the world. That is why it is no wonder that Indian woman make jewelry  an integral part of their lives.

It is so inspiring to me to know that there are people out there that adorn themselves in such a detailed and layered way. Each culture has its own way of approaching dressing and I find it fascinating and inspiring to engage myself to think out side of the norm when designing and look for value and purpose in the reason why people wear jewelry and dress to show their unique individuality.

Japan is known for it’s outlandish sense of fashion, but ultimately it is incredible that a country can be so innovative and mysterious in their use of materials and embellishments. From the street style to the runways, Japan seems steps ahead in its freedom of expression.

The new magazine, Afar, covers travel from around the globe, in a more meaningful and conscious way. They are featuring Japan and the costume culture in their debut issue coming out tomorrow August 18, 2009. Check it out! In the mean time, enjoy the beauty of Japanese culture.

Bondi Beach

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Beaches… a constant inspiration. Here are some photos of Bondi beach in Sydney Australia from a previous trip. The muted colors of the sea and sand are the perfect representation of the colors this season. Tan, white and burnt orange with some blue accents.  Anklets are always a good choice when sunbathing and lounging. They are a good way to add sparkle to your feet and accentuate your polished toes!

Holiday?

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

After winter everyone is usually pretty excited for a change of climate. If you are like me, it is challenging to be patient while the weather gradually grows warmer, so holidays are a necessity. One way to take an affordable vacation is through Slim Aarons photography. His poolside photographs are of some of the most glamorous places in the world. He captures the bourgeoisie and their doings in such a way that makes Capri a perfect paradise or Acapulco in 1957 the jet setters prime local. I take mini holidays everyday I dive into his photography book “Poolside with Slim Aarons”. This book is a perfect way to get inspired and take a vacation, while still affording to spend all your extra earnings on jewels!!
